What is a 19" Rack?
The 19” rack standard has been used for decades and refers to a 482.6mm (19") wide equipment mount, with rack height measured in Units (U). One unit equals 44.5mm (1.75"). For example, 4 x 3U amplifiers require at least 12U of rack height. Additional spacing for ventilation or patch panels is often recommended.
Choosing the Right Rack Flight Case
When selecting your case, consider:
Total rack height (U) of the equipment
Depth of the deepest unit, plus space for rear connectors
Front protrusions like knobs or handles that affect door clearance
Ventilation and airflow requirements
Mounting hardware (M6 cage nuts are supplied as standard)
